Help External drive without the dock

Hello.
I would like to know if it's possible to use an external USB HD providing I can get my hands on the USB adapater that brings USB 2.0 connection to the prime.

I would be using a HDD with its own power.

i believe that the most usb hard drives will work. here is some threads i have found that others have said it will work.

It does. I hooked up my 320 GB no problem. I've heard it can handle up to 2 TB, actually.
