Help external GPS antenna for an acer iconia a500

I have an acer iconia a500 (wifi only) tablet I am trying out an aviation GPS/moving map app called navigator to use in place of a hand held GPS while flying. The app seems to work pretty good but I seem to be having trouble getting a clear view of satellites with the tablet inside the cockpit (I had to have it on the glare shield pretty much in the windshield. I once had an external USB GPS antenna for an older laptop, never got to try it out, do they make such a thing I can use with my tablet? are they any good if so? anyone have any ideas?

ok thanks looking at that link that might actually be a little over my head. I've built desktops etc but never opened up my tablet ..yet.. not sure if I want to is there any plug-n-play external antennas? And im using an acer iconia a500 (wifi only) tablet

I use GPS extensively with my job. I'm a trucker. I haven't been able to find an external gps sensor so far. But what I do is put my tablet right on my windshield. I got a windshield mount from a web site calle DHGATE.com. It's a site in China. That is where I bought my first tablet that did have an external GPS antenna on it. Was called a Flytouch/epad. Worked great but not a fancy as my A500. But for $150.00 you get the tablet, the windshield mount and a 12 volt power plug.
