External MicroSD Card

Hello, Freddy here. I have 2 Motorola Xooms running Android's Ice Cream Sandwich version of its Operation System. I can successfully write to my 32GB external MicroSD card from either unit. However, I cannot delete files from the MicroSD using file manager applications like, for example, Astro and File Manager HD. Alternatively, and, inconveniently, I must connect it via cable to my laptop and delete using this method. I understand rooting the device will lift this block. However, I am hesitant to doing so, especially of the risk of bricking it, or am I unjustified in feeling this way? Please ask for any additional information to help address this matter. By the way, the MicroSD card does not have a write-protect tab that can be slid into any position. Also, what does "Post a poll" mean in this forum? Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the forums - thanks for joining!

I have no experience with tablets... your best bet would be to check in Motorola XOOM - Android Forums as other users of the same device are the best to offer help and advice relating to the Xoom.

Hope you find this place useful - if you need any other help navigating the forums, give one of us guides a shout.

By the way... posting a poll is related to if you want to ask a question.

"Diskusage" seems to do just that, show disk usage. However, my goal is to delete files from my external MicroSD card directly from the Xoom. If you have instructions to do the aforementioned using "Diskusage", please include them on your reply. Thank you.

I discovered how to attempt to delete files. I say "attempt" because I received the following message after tapping on "Delete": "Error: file wasn't deleted".
