Is there an android app for tablets (I think I have a G-tab?) that will teach you to play the piano, by connecting to one you already have, instead of having a virtual piano on the tablet? Virtual piano apps aren't very good for teaching you spacing and using both hands and such. I have a Yamaha electric piano, and it has USB, so I want to learn with my tablet. There are computer lessons that do that, but the piano's rather large, so I'd have to move it in front of my computer every time, and a laptop won't sit on the piano as well as a tablet-that can just lean against the music stand!

Yes there are many apps through which you can learn the piano easily. Here is a best app "Piano Lesson Tutor" with the help of this app you can learn piano lessons easily. Even I am also referring this. You can find it on Google play store easily.
Sorry, not what I'm looking for. The app you suggested only links to youtube videos. I want an app that I can plug my own piano directly into the tablet, and learn that way.

The closest thing I have found is a program called Perfect Piano, which you can find in the play store. While this is not a "piano tutor" per say, you can load any midi file, and play along using an external piano. It will also allow you to pause at each note until you play the right key. (*Note: I have to turn the external keyboard support off and then on each time I connect, or it will not work)
Grand Piano pro also claims to support this feature, but I was unable to make it work in the free version.

Can you share the info about how to connect an external piano to an android phone/tablet? Midi interface? I am very interested...
The Android device has to have USB host/OTG functionality, many devices do. And if the MIDI instrument doesn't have USB, like it's DIN connectors only, you'll need an adapter.
