External SD Card files not showing in my computer

Hi guys,

I'm just transferring all my files from my Note 3 to new Note 5 but just having one issue. I've manually copied all my photos/videos etc from my Note 3 onto my computer so I can sort through them.

However, when I go into the 'Card' section in My Computer, it only shows 2 folders (Android and LOST.DIR) which have no media files in them. It doesn't show all the images on my external SD Card. These photos come up in my Gallery on my phone though...

Any idea why they are showing in my phone's gallery but my PC doesn't detect them? (I have it set to show hidden files and folders, as well as system files etc).

My PC doesn't have a memory card reader either....

Cheers

Hi guys,

I'm a little confused. You've copied them already to your PC? So you have them in a folder (presumably) on your PC? It is your Note 3's removable micro SD card versions that cannot be seen in "Computer" on your PC, while the card is in your Note 3? This is not me being stupid, it is important. I belive your micro SD card maybe failing.

I think the best option should you not have any copies of your photos would be to copy the SD card photos on to the Note 3's internal 32 Gig memory (a number at a time if you have more than you have internal memory capacity) then cut those to the PC. Avoid at all costs adding to the micro SD or being tempted to get a micro SD card USB adaptor and reading it directly on the PC.

An alternative solution would be to upload the lot to the cloud via WiFi. Google drive is unlimited if you let Google compress them to what they call "high quality".

I have said this before, and I'll say it again because it bares repeating.

Don't rely on micro SD cards only, they can and do fail. I know from bitter experience.

are you using the USB cable that came with the phone? the one with extra wide "note3" connection?

If I use a regular USB cable.. it had issues with the filing system.
