Help External SD Problems

Hello All
I wonder if anyone can help please. I have updated my Note to 4.1.2 and now when I connect to my computer (via a cable) there is no way to safely disconnect. There was an option to do this on the phone before with the original OS.

Since I have updated I have had an SD card fail (32GB) and I put a 64GB in and the same thing has happened after two weeks.

It is really annoying because as I transfer programs to the card to leave the internal memory free, I loose the programs on the card.

I do suspect this is because I just unplug the
phone instead of the old way of using software to disconnect it.

If anyone can help please it would be very much appreciated.

Kindest Regards

Eric

Pull down the Notifications. You'll probably see that the card is connected as a camer (PTP). Press that and change it to MTP and you'll get the phone inn the "eject" function on the computer. (Or right-click the phone in Windows Explorer and click on Eject.)

As far as losing files, it sounds as if you're buying cheap or counterfeit cards. A cheap card is usually made of used chips, and won't last long. A counterfeit card may say 64GB on it, but the memory chip may be 2GB (which sell for a few pennies). The controller in the card is programmed to claim that it's a 54GB card, but as soon as you exceed the capacity of the memory chip it gets wiped. Since only some files are disappearing on you, I'd say it's cheap cards.

If you buy a good card (that means SanDisk), if the card fails, they'll replace it. It's guaranteed for life unless you do something to damage it (like step on it).
