Help External Stereo mic for Galaxy S5?

[Android Question]

Hey guys, I just recently got a new galaxy s5. I'm an avid cello player and love shooting video, so I was drawn to Samsungs camera. However the audio really is an issue for me and I was wondering if you knew how to either wire up my phone to a professional stereo microphone, or if you knew of any stereo mics that are meant for mobile devices. Found this thread over on XDA that shows you how to connect your mic to your phone. This site here has some info regarding the subject. As for microphones that you can buy and attach via the audio connector there is one from Rhode Microphones called Smart Lav and another from Sony called STM10. If you want to go that route, I'd suggest to look at the reviews. There seems to be quite a few in different price ranges. Anyways, hope that helps.

Thanks! I saw that thread but I think I need something like the STM10 that's designed for mobile devices. However I think the STM10 only works with the Xperia phones... do you know of anymore?

I don't know of anymore. It looks like most are for ios . Regarding the STM10, on the sony website it says that it is compatible with 2 different xperia devices and android smartphone with a 3.5 mm 5 pole input. But yea, another site mentioned that it is only compatible with sony xperia devices. Anyways, looking around I found a thread by someone asking about external mics for the S5. Here is the link to it. Maybe message him and ask if he ever found an adequate external mic.
