If the ebooks are from somewhere like Project Gutenberg rather than Kindle, you can just transfer the books over from one SD card to another.
I have a Nook, and I like older sci-fi. Quite a bit of free stuff that comes in PDF or EPUB that can be read on either phone or Nook. You still need a reader app on the phone.
