Extremely Bizzare wifi Browsing Issue

chukkee

Lurker
Device: Samsung Charge/Gingerbread

Background: I can connect to home and work wifi networks without issue. While connected to wifi, Router assigns ip address to device. I can ping device from desktop. I can use all wifi related applications with device (i.e. Google TV, Facebook, exchange, youtube,. etc). Google Market also works fine.

Problem: While connected to wifi I cannot browse browse any web pages either with default browser or Dolphin Browser.

Attempted Solutions: I have restarted device, reset device to factory defaults, restarted router, reset router to factory default

Other Observations: No other devices experience similar issues. 3G/4G work normally.

I doubt it will work but try and manually add a fixed ip and dns in the phone networks settings. Use a third party dns. Such as google's own.

Do you have an AV (Lookout, AVG etc) installed? Sounds like you might have a browser hijack going on.

Thank you so much for the quick reply and the recommendation. Unfortunately, creating fixed ip address on router and manually configuring dns does not solve the problem

Thank you skiahh for the idea. I Installed Lookout Premium and ran a complete scan. Lookout detected no issues. Unfortunately Lookout does not solve the problem.

I am uaing avast! Mobile security. This app has "firewall" which option is to block data transfer for chosen apps. And there is possibilitu to toggle 3g/roaming/wifi for every app. Maybe u have installed sth similar?
