Extremely glitchy since OTA update

I thought the SOD was as bad as it could get, but since the recent OTA update, my phone has been more infuriating than usual.

• Within a few days the lock button ceased functioning. It does not seem to be a mechanical issue, as the button presses and releases like normal. No warning, just stopped working.
• Apps hang-up/freeze for anywhere from 10 seconds to almost a minute. This never happened before. It was one of the great things about the phone, how quickly apps responded.
• Swype texting has become glitchy, occasionally freezing causing me to force freeze the app I'm using.

Has anyone else noticed these problems? It's become so annoying I'm very close to rooting, something I hadn't considered worth the time before.

Yup. Sometimes you need to do a factory reset to let the update "settle in".

I have not yet. I've already done 2 factory resets prior to the OTA update in attempts to fix the SOD problem. It's a bit of a pain in the ass.

In February, I broke down and called AT&T and got a refurbished phone before my warranty was expired. That phone was great until the OTA. Last week I spent an hour on the phone with Customer Care to finally be told, "Do a hard reset." I went to an AT&T store to see if there was anything I could do before an upgrade in July on one of my lines. Of course, there wasn't. The store salesperson did recommend not doing any updates. Well I did the hard reset, and it did not help at all--wasted time. My second refurb arrived Monday and it's had SOD a couple of times and some screen freezes. Guess I'll just decide if I can tough it out until my upgrade or call Customer Care again.

I've had some issues where the phone just goes to a black screen and is unresponsive for 30 seconds or so, with the app crashing to the desktop....but not often.

As for Swype, something has changed with the screen transitions when the word suggestion bar appears & disappears.

For instance, as your typing a word out, some suggestions populate in a narrow window below the text box & the keyboard. Once you've completed the word, the window disappears.

Previously, the screen transition was very snappy....so that by the time you've moved your finger over to hit the "Send" button, the window has disappeared and the "Send" button is in the right spot.

Now, there is this slow fading animation when the word suggestion window appears & disappears....making it so that by the time you've moved your finger over to hit the Send button, it changes position just before hitting the button....making you hit the attachment button instead.

After the update SOD is gone, but i just noticed that i experience frequent crashes specially on typing messages.
