Face down silent mode, Can I turn this off?

When I have my phone face down it goes to silent mode so I can't hear my rings. Is there a way to turn this off?

The reason this bothers me is because when the phone is in my pocket it sometimes doesn't ring..... Kind of important lol

PS I am not talking about the "quiet ring on pickup" feature.

Thanks in advance!

there was a thread about it already on here somewhere...not sure if they found a solution...just try search option and some keywords

Like I said in my first post, NOT the quiet ring on pickup feature. I'm talking about the face down silent mode. I don't think there is an option for it.

As soon as your phone starts ringing proximity sensor senses that its close to something, assumes its your hand then quiets the ringer. So yes i agree it is this setting you need to change.

I just searched the manual for the term silent and found nothing about the phone going into silent mode when face down. Mine does not do this so I am wondering if some 3rd party app is causing the OP results.

I found this in the guide (page 43):
Muting the ringing sound without rejecting the call
Do one of the following:
* Press the VOLUME DOWN button.
* Place the phone face down on a leveled surface.
If the phone is already facing down, the phone will still ring when there are subsequent incoming calls.

Seems like it should only go silent if it's upright and then you flip it over, not if it's facing down already.

Mine does mute when placing face down during an incoming call but if the phone is face down and a call comes in it does ring.

This works great to silence an incoming call by just flipping the phone over. I wish we could flip it over in call to activate the speaker phone like the TP2 could. I used that daily.

It can't be the silent ring on pickup setting. I use the Verizon cover/holster and have the silent ring on pickup on. The holster is setup so the the phone faces inward and is flush facing the holster. If the proximity sensor would activate in that situation. the phone would never ring, but it does. Same would apply to laying it face down.

FOR MOTOROLA PHONES
You can go to the moto app on your device, go to the actions and then disable the "flip for Do Not Disturb" option. and you're done

Hello all,
:cool::cool::cool:
None of the above answers is correct.
There is an inbuilt feature of Moto G5+.
Here is the correct Solution to turn off face down silent mode:-
Go to "Moto" default app --> Select Option 1st Moto options--> Flip for do not disturb --> Turn off
:rob::rob:
Simple!!

I have a Moto G7...same issue/problem & I just figured out that the phone automatically goes in to DND mode when I put the phone screen side down (flat). I've tried looking for 'FLIP FOR DO NOT DISTURB' in the 'Moto app'. Does not exist. Don't know WTF these previous poster are finding that??? Spoke to a 'robot' at Motorola. No solution found. It appears to just be 'built in' without an option to turn it off. Like the original poster, I'm more concerned that if my phone gets into a flat position inside my pocket, I won't hear important/expected phone calls. I may just call Motorola to see if they know anything....most likely they don't....just like every other mega company. Everybody know NOTHING!@#$

UPDATE: Just spoke with a live, real person at Motorola (always someone from the Philippines). It appears I was going to the WRONG 'Moto' section. The correct 'Moto' is the 'Moto ICON' on your apps page that has all the app icons on it. Once you are there, click on the THREE BARS next to, 'Hello Owner'. There you'll find the 'Moto Actions' & the source of the issue....I found the 'FLIP FOR DND' clicked ON. Problem solved. Who knew. And that sucker was BURIED DEEP!@#$ HTF that got turned on automatically I'll never know. ARGH! Lastly, my husband is IT DIRECTOR of a large company. HE couldn't even find it!
