Face unlock reliable?

I am aware of the limited security of face unlock but I am more bothered about setting up the lock and then it doesn't recognize me.

Can and does this happen and is there any way around it if it doesn't recognize me?

If I remember right when I set it up on my GNex you have to set up a pin to unlock it if it can't recognize you. So you won't be locked out. As you mentioned, it is not very secure, so if fyou are worried about that, I would go with something else.

It is the same. To do face unlock, you also have to do pin or pattern unlock. To make it more secure you can add "eye blink" to show it's a live person, not a picture. :D

^^ This was a nice improvement from ICS to Jelly Bean. Google of course still says that face unlock isn't the most secure, but after adding the liveness check, it's pretty secure. My dad uses it a lot and it works really well, otherwise he just uses the pin unlock if it doesn't recognize his face right away.

So yeah, you don't have to worry about being locked out of your device if it doesn't recognize you, Google thought of that in advance lol.

Thanks everyone. Just wanted to have a play with the feature without risk. Though it would be useful to stop the kids getting into it :-)

I found that it wouldn't pick up my blink (idk if it's because I have glasses or what)
