Facebook app always showing location?

Every time I look at my profile through the facebook app, it shows me what city I'm in. What the heck? Why is this necessary? Is there any way to remove this?

You mean in Messenger? Or you mean the actual Facebook app where it says 'lives in xxxx'?

The first part you can turn off in messenger settings. The latter one is changed in the Facebook profile privacy settings on a PC.

No, this is what it shows. Doesn't say lives in. I mean on the actual facebook app. Not messenger. It only shows what city I'm in and always updates wherever I'm at. Why doesn't it just say what city I live in?

took some parts out of this pic for privacy btw.

Linked to your location. If you have Google's/carrier's location services, that's probably where it's getting the info.

Could be plain GPS, but that isn't always right on depending on the app.

If it was just doing zip code, you could change it.

Use FB through the browser, not the app. You can set browser to desktop, and sign in only when you want FB. You can disable maps and location if you don't use them. You can set phone to Carrier location, Carrier location with Google, nothing or GPS only.

I see OP is with TMO. I don't have FB on the phone, but can adjust tracking. Unless something from Samsung has a connection somewhere. Have you followed anything on FB that has an app? How about weather? If you have updated hour by hour weather notifications, that would track you all over for the right forecast.

Twitter is using it.

Probably. I just updated the Facebook app and checked, just on the off chance if it is just a version thing, and I still don't have that in my profile.
