The "data" consumption for the Android Facebook application slowly grows over time and I cannot figure out why. Left unchecked, this will lead to a situation where no applications can be installed even though there should be plenty of free space on the phone.
I just cleared the data out a few weeks ago but it was previously using over 61MB of space. I went into Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and cleared the data, which brought it back down to 4.93MB. However, it is growing in size again. Version 1.6.1 shows up on my phone as 4.93MB but the total size is currently 12.47MB due to an additional 7.54MB of data.
Each time data is cleared one must login again, and change all of the settings again to whatever is desired. The cache grows too but seems to level off around 5MB and can be cleared without losing all settings for the app.
Why is the application constantly consuming more and more data? Can you please explain this behavior, or better yet fix it?
