Facebook app vs Facebook via browser

I have a Galaxy S3

I have been using facebook via my browser since I've had this phone.

Reason I haven't tried the app is because I hated what the app did to my phone, particularly linking my contacts, on my Evo 3D. I could never figure out how to get my facebook friends unlinked off that phone, and since it was a stock app,I was stuck with it. I did try to unlink them every possible way I researched, but all my friends always showed up in contacts and I freaking hated it.

Anyhow, so now I'm wondering, can I use the app on the GS3 and not run into this issue? I don't want facebook added to any of my phone contacts. Any GS3 users answer this?

When you set the app up, it gives you the option to sync contacts if you want. Just select don't sync and voila perfectly good fb app and contact list as it was.

You can also change this in settings on Facebook anytime

I never saw the point of that app, works well in a browser, just like on a PC. Easy to find your way around. Also doesn't add to battery drain.
