Help Facebook keeps opening and showing me as online!

Is there any way to stop Facebook from opening itself and showing me as online all the time?

Even when i close, force close and ADW task killer it, it still keeps opening and showing me as online seconds after?

It's so annoying!

Gotta be a way to keep it closed, when i close it?
 
What about if you go in to the Facebook app and from the main screen News feed, profile, Friends etc select Chat and then press the Menu button and select Go offline. Does it change your status afterwards?

Or check Sync and make sure you facebook account isn't in there.

If you ever merged your address book with facebook contacts I have a feeling it seems to keep bringing facebook app back to life.

There is actually an option under Contacts to only show facebook users that are online, under contacts. You could check to see if that is on. Open Contacts, hit the Group button in the top left (that looks like 3 users) and make sure the checkmarks are off.
 
Go to settings/accounts & sync and make sure sync is off for facebook

I found the facebook app to be pretty wack, too slow, not the ideal platform for use on this phone. The Friendcaster app is much much better, IMO, so since I don't use Timescape I ended up removing all facebook files, Timescape and EventStream files and apps from my phone. Life is good!
 
Everything is off. All automatic sync. Baggrounddata is off.

I've gone offline trough chat.

Unchecked all marks i could find that could have something to do with it

But it still keeps opening

Not sure if there is a way to keep it off.

Except for removing it or using a task manager.

Not sure if it is ad related or what.

Did you ever merge your contacts with facebook contacts?

Why not just root the phone and remove facebook if it is a problem?

Maybe then add a new facebook app that doesn't do that.
 
Strange man, even when I had the facebook app and facebook inside xperia on my phone i never had this issue. Since the integrated fb is for timescape, im assuming its the fb app thats doing this. I would go to settings/apps/manage apps/facebook and clear data then uninstall it. Reboot the phone and see if it happens again. If not, its clear what the problem was. At that time you can install Friendcaster and move on with ur life ;)
 
Well i've tried removing the sync on contacts aswell, but so far it still keeps opening?

And im not much up for rooting my phone
 
Well i can't uninstall it. Only the updates?

But i have now cleared all the data (3.54Mb) and forced it to stop.

So far it hasn't opened in a couple of minutes, but i'll try not to open it myself for about and hour and see if it opens by itself again
 
OK....i did some checking on my own.

I noticed my facebook app would run to. I reflashed and started from scratch.

No facebook. Imported contacts and setup gmail account...still no facebook.

But as soon as I added a twitter and a poker game I play through facebook, boom....facebook app. And it comes back every couple minutes even if I kill it and don't play the game or use twitter.

But, thing is, it uses so little memory and does nothing in the background because I feep my data and wireless off when I don't use them.

So, reason they are there is because of a poker game and twitter for me (I don't use Timescape and have never signed into facebook directly on my phone and I have never opened the facebook app on my phone)

I would suggest you reflash your phone....don't install any apps at all, and start from there if you really want to prevent facebook from opening.

Delete all your browser history and cookies and logins.

On a computer sign into facebook and change your facebook to not show when people appear online and select to chose your status as not online.

Are u rooted?
 
No i'm not rooted! And i'm not going to.

It did stop opening once i cleared the app data though.
But as soon as i opened it again it would, go back to being annoying!

And i'm not up for tinkering with the android system. Just don't want to risk anything
