Facebook notifications...

In the last update of facebook, it seems to have implemented some kind of persistent notifications thing and it's doing my nut in!!!

I've gone into the facebook settings, enabled the notifications, disabled everything in there and then turned them off again and I'm STILL getting the bastard things on my phone(s4)!!!

I've been through all my settings and can't seem to find how to turn this off.

Can someone please help me out before I smash my phone against the wall! :D

What exactly are the notifications you are getting? The standard Facebook icons? Have you checked your Social Hub app if you have inadvertently linked Facebook to it?

It's just done it again now, I held down the notification in the drop down window and it gave me the option of App Info, and it told me it was facebook doing it.

In that App Info page though (its the same page that you'd get in the Application Manager in settings) I found a notifications tick box in there.

So if anyone else is having trouble with facebook messaging you all the time, that is where you need to be looking! :D

This might help....
How to turn off the new persistent Facebook notification | Android Central

It is documented at least once or twice in this forum where I have gone off on older versions of the facebook app (not messenger and not home) about how despite me NEVER EVER checking vibrate and a few other settings they would all magically turn on. Hhhhmm a "glitch" that turns on location services and chat availability? Hhhhhmmmm.

Facebook has been WAY TOO AGGRESSIVE about their apps and permissions and mining even MORE data from us. So, I stopped updating at version 2.3 and have notifications turned off completely in the app and via the app info in Settings. NO way for the app to harrass me anymore.

I use the web version (which isn't bad at all) to get used to that for the day I uninstall facebook app completely. I keep v2.3 on my phone because, I know I will never be able to get a slightly less intrusive version ever again.

I'd already found that page but facebook removed that option apparantly! I didn't have it on mine.

Cheers for the help, and I got it sorted as I said above. Hopefully anyone else having the same issue will find this cause it was so frustrating!!!
