Facebook push notifications through chrome browser eating my battery?

Yesterday I decided to try receiving fb notifications through the chrome browser I don't use/have the fb app or messenger app at all.

However today I noticed my battery draining rather quickly (was at 100 3 hours ago. Now I'm at 81. .)

Battery usage:

Chrome 28%
Screen 26%

Whenever screen isn't the biggest battery drain I know something is up.
Right now I just disabled the notifications to see if that's the issue. Anyone experience this? Have tips?

Clear data and cache in chrome. Force close and reboot.

Uninstall updates and reinstall for Chrome.

Use a wrapper app like Metal or Slim Social. Much better than the Android app and more "features" than just using chrome.

If you don't need notifications from Chrome, just turn them off in the App Settings of your main system settings. It also saves on a bit of data, too.
