Facebook Widget Help

First post here so sorry if it has been asked before

I have the facebook widget on my htc wildfire. I have not set up an account in the account and settings menu for facebook for htc sense. The main reason for this is that I do not want any contact information from facebook friends on my phone etc, and want to use my own pics for their contact details etc in my people list.

Anyway I want to be notified on my phone when I receive an inbox message or a wall post. How do I get this to happen, I have checked my notifications settings for my facebook widget and they are all ticked.

Do I need background data to be ticked? Do I need auto sync to be ticked, even if I have no facebook account set up in that menu?

Any help would be appreciated

You need to be logged in. You don't have to sync your contacts.

I am logged in to facebook on my widget. Ie when I click the widget it takes me straight to my home page with status updates etc

Not sure what you mean, do I need a facebook for htc sense account as well?
