Facebook won't sync thumbnails, crashes setup process

I got the droid 4 the day it came out. I installed facebook and added my fb account. After that I managed to pull all my facebook contacts and thumbnails. However, going to settings/accounts and clicking my facebook email always crashed with the error about process setup.

I tried removing all my accounts and putting them back, and uninstalling fb and fb messenger. I still cannot get to the fb sync menu because it crashes when I click my fb account.

How do I get my fb account to not crash and enable sync?

Anyone know how to make a facebook account work? I'm not really that worried about using facebook on my phone, I just want to download all my contacts from facebook.
