Help Factory reset after root

Hi,
I have just bought a cheap Galaxy S3 Gti9300. I rooted it using Kingo.
When I checked it with Root Checker, it said phone had root access. Then Kingo said it didn't. Another check with Root Checker said it did. Kingo didn't seem so easy as last time I used it. Confused or what.

So made up my mind to root it the proper way, so will it naff up if I do another factory reset and start again ??

I am thinking of the IMEI number possible loss- I have it written down just in case that helps.
My original S3 was rooted with Kingo nearly a year ago, backed up with TWRP and Omnirom v5 (KK4.4.4), with Nova Launcher. Helped with great patience by Madbat and dear old Funky.
Not put a foot wrong since. Tab 2(P3110) also rooted with Kingo.
Waiting for an SD card to arrive, to store backup on.
Can't remember if TWRP backed up the EFS, or if I did it myself, just in case.
Thanks.

A factory reset won't undo any changes to system that Kingo has made. To be sure you have a clean base before rooting I'd reflash it with stock firmware, if you can find it for that device.

As far as I know EFS problems and IMEI loss are a Samsung-specific feature/problem (though with unknown devices well, who knows).
