Help Factory reset hangs up

kheck

Lurker
I'm trying to factory reset my phone after installing an app from a website that seems to be malicious. When I select factory reset under options and confirm, it sits on "unmounting internal memory" and wont progress further. I also tried doing this from the fast boot menu and it didn't finish after 2 hrs. Is there a manual reset that I can do? I went to my local retail store and they said the phone is too new for them to be able to do anything.

you should be able to return your phone back to stock using this technique, i had to do the same on my phone for a different reason, but do some research first before you make any decisions

You should tell us what the app was so we can avoid it if indeed it is malicious, by the way I have used that step pointed out above and it works well.

I believe the app is called Gameboid. There is a version on the market but its "recommended" to get it from a different source. After downloading, my RAM was being used much more than usual so I uninstalled it and the issue didn't go away.

Thanks for the link. I did a little bit of research on that process but didn't try it due to the risk.
