Help Factory Reset- How?

Due to intermittent cell data loss issues and random bouts of battery drain, I have decided to perform a factory reset of my phone.

A few questions before I do:

  1. Is there any way to back up everything so my apps/settings/home screens are restored? Or any of those things are saved?
  2. I reset using the prompts on the phone in settings, right? Is there a way to do this through a computer/does that have advantages over doing it on the phone?

Thanks a bunch in advance, aside from a few issues I love this phone and just want it to be better than it is now.

system settings/privacy/back up & restore options

from there you can back up your settings to your gmail account. You can also restore automatically from it too.

Your apps are linked to your Google account so when you log back in to the Play Store they will download again.

Contact, messages and settings can be backed up to your Google account too so they're stored on the Cloud.

Although if you are rooted then you could use an app like Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro which will do it all a lot quicker and easier and give you more options when restoring.

I'm pretty sure you need to be rooted to use them anyway.

On a side note though what has been causing your battery drain because we might be able to solve it without you having to go through the trouble of a Factory Reset?

Sometimes it'll randomly drop from 50-0% in the span of a few seconds. I am hoping it isn't a hardware issue.

Also, i will randomly lose cell connectivity for minutes at a time and will only get it back after either moving to a different location (walking a few hundred feet) or attempting to make a call out or send a text. Also, i get most texts 2 or more times, with the second being after i send a response, i'll get the same message i already got again with the same time stamp (and i know the sender is only sending it once)

hopefully a factory reset can help this problem

Hmm that is a strange thing to happen, when did this start happening then?

I'd try a Factory Reset and see if it helps, let us know how you get on.

If you need any more help with backing up or restoring then just let me know.

how do i restore my settings? I backed them up but didn't get a restore option when i reset...

Did you back them up by syncing them with your Gmail account?

If so then go to Settings > Accounts & Sync, then sync your Gmail account again.

This will only be system settings and not settings in your apps.

just a quick update for those interested:

did a factory reset-elected to keep from wiping the phone storage itself. Reinstalled important apps (4 pages instead of 9 lol) and so far i have had 0 issues with the towers and 1 text that i received twice (but i was in an area of basically 0 service so I am attributing that to that). Can't vouch for battery life quite yet.

Call glad to hear that.

If you get bad battery life again try putting the phone in aeroplane mode for a day as that will determine if it's your signal or a rogue app.
