Factory reset now problems

I did a factory reset about a month ago due to being hacked or something .
The factory reset got rid of the what I think was the hijacked scenario pop up on my main screen all the time plus other things .
I do still get strange hang up calls from Nigeria .

But now the changes I've noticed and cannot fix in settings .
I now ''have '' to have a locked screen either swipe or pin number and the lock time is short and annoying .
Before I never had to have a locked screen or I had the option , now I don't .
My Gmail app icon wont show new amount of messages on the icon anymore like it used to. Cannot fix that .
Same go's with Samsung mail no email inbox number on the icon anymore .

I reinstalled facebook but lost the main marketplace and I can no longer get it back keeps saying its not available to me .
Ive tried everything in settings inc all the fix it youtube videos they suggest .

Its just not the same phone anymore , still ok but not as good is it because of the software update ?

i numbered your issues to make it easier to help:
1.you can change your lockscreen within the phone's settings

2.i have been using nova launcher for almost a decade. it does allow for "notification badges" which shows you the number of notifications for each app. you might want to look into launchers. nova is my goto, but there are many others. launchers are cool because you can customize how the phone looks and feels.....check it out.

3.hmmmmm as far as facebook goes.......maybe the facebook app has moved on from your device. your phone is quite old now and when apps get updated they may not work on your phone anymore. have you tried going into your web browser for the facebook marketplace?

and you might to consider upgrading your phone. as android progress and moves on, so does a lot of apps. app developers have to move on to keep up making sure that their apps will run on the latest os. but this also means that these apps will be getting bigger and might require more then what your older phone is willing to give.

Going by your description, it sounds like you did your Factory Reset without doing a full backup of your data. A Factory Reset wipes all your files, the apps you originally installed and their settings/configurations, and whatever else you had set up in your Settings menu. Without a full backup to restore your phone's previous state, all that is gone. You have to go through the entire process of setting up your phone again, along with re-configuring all the logins, settings, etc. of the apps you had set up prior to the Reset.

Yes does sound like what ive done re not doing a full backup , the last time the shop did it for me .
Hopefully I can get it like it was before or close .
I will check out those apps too .
I still can't figure out how to not have a locked screen thou .
I go settings , lock screen etc , it ask s for a pin to change swipe screen but then Im stuck with a pin lock screen , in the old version I could have neither .
What am I doing wrong ?
I got a great deal upgrading my note 4 to a 5 off Samsung wonder if they will do that again ?
I still miss my Note 4 .

Install Samsung's Smart Switch utility on a computer and use it to make backups of your data. It's also helpful to restore your data in the event you need to do something like a Factory Reset and migrate your data from one phone to another (allowing for the phones it supports of course).

Regarding backups you want to have your data backed up somewhere you have access to it, not some service center. As for migrating your data, having a service center do this does put a lot of the responsibility on them in case there's a problem (always get documented agreements on what's covered though) but doing it yourself can ensure your data stays private. All reputable service centers have public declarations on privacy but there any number of court cases involving violations after revelations of back room servers full of otherwise personal files.

As for your lock screen issue, have you recently implemented any kind of service like Google Pay or some other similar banking-relative app? A lot of those types of apps/services rely on a lock screen as a requirement.

I did have to reinstall my banking app .
Not the end of the world if i cannot get the lock screen off probally better for security but ticked the max amount of locked screen off but its still locking after a short time like 2 mins .
Phones still good and happy i got rid of the annoying pop up on the screen .
Might look at upgrading in the near future .
