Help Factory Reset Restoration

Matthew W

Newbie
Hello,
My nephew accidentally factory reset my phone last night. Had cloud backup so was able to restore my contacts and text message logs... but my pictures or apps downloaded did not come back! Is there a different way to attempt a restore to pull those back from cyberspace?
Thanks,
Matthew

You can go to the Play Store on a PC browser.

https://play.google.com/store/apps

Log in to your Google account, and there is a link on the left when you click on "Apps" that says "My apps". That will bring you to every app that you have installed to an Android device, and you can do a remote install to your phone from the PC browser.

But, to back up a bit, if your Play Store is not opening, that sounds like a problem. You can try going to settings / apps, tap on "Google Play Store" and force stop the app. See if that now works. If not, go back and tap "clear data" - see if that works. If not, go back and tap "uninstall updates". If that still doesn't work - Since you've just done a factory data reset I would try that again.

As for lost photos - they are lost if they were not backed up anywhere. Please, everyone: turn on automatic backups of photos and video from any of the reputable online services - Google+, Dropbox, Box, Microsoft OneDrive, etc. - before you lose your photos.

That is pretty slick re: accessing the phone from a desktop, thank you for the tip there.

I am not technical, but hope I would take advantage of the backup functionality when initially setting up the phone. Is there a way to check those services to see if I had it set up somewhere?

Thanks,
Matthew
