factory reset then?

Hi guys

Should I reset my wifes desire back to factoy settings?

I posted yesterday about her having major issues with her text messages:
It may of just been coincedence but she recieved a message from a friend which can't be opened correctly or deleted. It opens for about a second and then closes messenger. When messenger is opened again, It shows as a new message. It keeps coming up in the notification bar as if It has just arrived. Turning off the phone removing battery, sim and SD doesn't solve it. Other messages are still able to open and delete. She can receive new messages but can't send.

Deleting data in 'manage applications' does not delete messages. long presseng on the thread to delete does not work. It also seems to lose signal when the message is pressed on.

Additional: after looking again, other random messages are also not deleting but are able to open.

I can't solve it, do I try a factory reset?

Cheers guys

Well, if you've exhausted all other options but it would be a last resort for me.

Is she using a different app for messages? Or just the stock? Also have you tried backing up all your messages with the SMS backup app, deleting all the messages and then restoring them? It tends to fail restoring any corrupt messages and gets rid of the dodgey ones.

I'd be reluctant to wipe my phone over this. It should be able to be solved without doing this.. Good luck!

It is the stock app. No. Nothing worked. Wasn't able to delete all messages. Done a reset for her now anyway. I wouldn't like to do mine, but she only really uses it for the basics and Facebook. Waste of a good phone :)

Ah well, I know the feel where you just want your phone working perfectly you're willing to do anything. As long as your missus is happy!

PS, my girlfriend has a perfectly good Wildfire. She just uses it for the basics and loves it.. Now I've rooted I want to dabble on her phone and get her running other roms etc. She wont let me as it works fine for her and her needs. I can't get anything technical and use it plainly. I always have to fiddle and dabble! But now I'm off sense, I can't go back!

A wildfire would be enough for her too. She has always gone for top end phones even though she only uses the basics.
