Root Factory Reset with rooted stock ROM is safe

[Disclaimer: This is for rooted phones with NO system files modified or deleted.]

My L70 is SIM unlocked, rooted and MLT disabled. Did a factory reset last night with no problems at all. SIM unlock, root and MLT setting stay.

Background: I was playing with the app files and folders. I updated the permissions but did not preserve the file ownerships. Everything worked fine till rebooting. I got the UID errors and my apps and home screens were messed up. I manually fixed all the UID errors but still decided to do a factory reset to make the system clean. I did not uninstall any stock apps since it would not free any user space.

Was CWM installed when you performed this factory reset? And did you use the settings menu to factory reset or boot into CWM? Or did you do the key combo where you hold volume down+power, let go of power, then press power again?

I am using stock ROM with no CWM installed.

The reason I post this was because I saw some posts saying factory reset would brick rooted phones. I can see cases like after rooting, someone deleted some system files. The factory reset would reboot the phone which might fail. But rooting is not the cause of the bricking. And in that case the phone was bricked before the factory reset.

Yes the phone was bricked before the factory reset if deleting system files caused it.

Now if you do have cwm installed and perform same factory reset, that MIGHT brick you, but we don't know. If anything it will be a soft brick though.

My experience, I was rooted and had uninstalled/removed most of the metro apps except MyMetro, and another one... I can't remember the name I think it may have been visual voicemail. I did a factory reset through the settings, and everything went perfectly fine. When the phone rebooted I completed the setup, and to my surprise all the Metro Apps except for the two mentioned were still gone. Of course I didn't have root anymore, but I was really surprised... I was thinking soft brick for sure.

Please do not take my word that this works, and the only reason I did it was because my link2sd goot screwed up and all my apps were basically "gone."

Like I said I wouldn't try this, but if you do, do it at your own risk.

Same here, reset twice after root and uninstall bloat, no problems.

Factory from within the phone needs a reroot. I factory reset my L70 once a week lol so I would know haha
