Help factory reset

Jamalsid

Newbie
A potentially dumb question, but how do you perform a factory reset? Is it in the settings menus somehwere is is performed via the 3-button recovery menu. If its the 3-button recovery menu then I have a phone where that is disabled (Orange UK GT-I9000).

Is there a way to enable the 3-button recovery and download modes that is completely safe, i.e. no risk of bricking?

Does anyone know why Samsung released a bunch of phones that had the 3 button recovery disabled. It doesn't make any sense.

To the OP, you can also perform a factory reset by going to Settings

thanks guys, found it. I guess I just needed to open my eyes lol!

No idea why the 3-button thing is missing on some handsets. I did find a guide on XDA forums somewhere for fixing it but it involves flashing using Odin but im not prepared to take the risk of bricking my phone.

Try the fix on the following site:

Fix 3-Button Combo Download & Recovery Mode In Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000

I have applied this fix and it is now working very well.
Volume Up+Home+Power for recovery mode and
Volume Down+Home+Power for download mode

This enabled function makes the rooting and updating to VooDoo so much easier. ^^
