Help Factory Resets

What exactly will a factory reset do? Will I lose all my apps? Will I lose any data? My tablet has been acting weird and spontaneously reboots. Wondering if a reset will fix that without losing everything.

It will erase all user-installed apps and their data and reset all settings to default. So back up anything important before doing this.

That incidentally is all a factory reset does: clears everything you've put on the device. It doesn't touch the system software in any way.

As to whether a reset will fix your problem, that depends on what's causing it. If it's an app/data problem, cache corruption or similar, yes. If it's hardware or a bad system update (though those should be tested before distribution), no.

Great, clear answer. Just one more question - If the app has been moved to the SD card, will that be removed?

Thanks

Yes, apps moved to SD will be erased as well.

(In any event that function only moves a part of the app, and the app wouldn't work, or even be recognised as being installed, without the parts that remain on the phone).
