Help Factory Resetting?

Hi, this is my first post here so uh hello.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime and I wanted to factory reset because there's these ads that keep popping up everywhere, even on the homescreen. They're the exact same ads every time. I have uninstalled every app I installed and they still pop up, which is why I decided to reset it.

I'm also a first-time phone owner, so I'm not very experienced with phones yet, so I apologize if this or my future questions are dumb to ask or should be obvious.

I have backed up everything. All contacts to my Gmail, music and pictures to my Google Drive, etc. So now I only worry of one thing.

My dad has an account of 3 phones (his, sis, and my phone) which he's the one who pays the phone bills. So if I were to factory reset, will it effect that at all?

Hi and Welcome to Androidforums!

Before you factory reset, you could try this:

menu
system settings (not sure if this step needed on your phone)
manage apps
ALL tab at the top
internet (browser)
clear cache
clear data

Do this for all browser apps that you use. It may work and is much quicker.

If the three phones on your dads account each have a separate SIM card and number, factory resetting will not affect anything. Its the SIM function that is paid for and this is not affected by resetting.

If you mean that there are three accounts on the same phone, then factory resetting will wipe them all (on that phone) but will not affect the SIM.

Make sure you know the Gmail address and password of the account that the phone is logged into before doing a factory reset, because you will need the same Gmail and password in order to get back in to the phone after reset.

You may also want to go into settings- security and disable FRP or Factory Reset Protection before trying to factory reset. Has been giving a lot of people headache lately. Can re enable after you get your phone set back up.
