I need help, my Samsung Galaxy SL won't let me factory reset it... I've tried setting-privacy-factory data reset.... didn't work, I've tried turning it off, holding the +volume button and power button and resetting it that way.... and using also trying the number..... it just doesn't work.... every time i don't use it for a little while it just turns off.... and when it does.... all the information and chat history is reset to a certain standard.... this happens each and every time it turns of or I turn if off myself. The phone keeps on getting errors with different applications that I've downloaded from the Internet... like Facebook and whatsapp. My internal SD card even screws up... and comes up with an error... when that happens i have to shut my phone off even to get it to work.... because all the other applications then fail... like my twlauncher, Bluetooth etc... anyone have any ideas?

well... I haven't done anything with my phone... other than download different apps. I'm not a technical guy when it comes to phones and I don't really know what Odin is nor have I rooted my phone. I have formatted my phone before without any problem several times.... due to the Twlauncher just randomly failed which was annoying.

Have you tried uninstalling TWLauncher and seeing if that helps?

TwLauncher is TouchWiz, the Samsung launcher. You don't want to uninstall that, even if you could.
To perform a hard reset of the Galaxy SL, turn your phone off. Pull the batter out for a few seconds just to make sure everything is clear. Replace the batter and then press and hold the Volume up, Home and power buttons until the screen flashes. Then release the power button, but keep holding the other two. When you see the recovery menu, use the volume keys to scroll the list of options.
It should look like this:

This will remove your personal data like SMS messages, email, apps and settings but should not touch your /sdcard partition where media files are normally stored, but always make sure you have backups of all your contacts, messages and media just in case.

yeah.... I've tried that earlier tho... but now it won't even let me enter it.... my menu button doesn't seem to work... when go in to an application the menu button doesn't work... but work when I just want to accesses it when the screens black. I also don't have the phone option that comes up when you just hold the power button in for a few seconds, I've only got "power off" and on top of that my phone won't even take incoming calls... it just blocks them and then I get a message the someone tried to call me... any other idea?
When you say you got into system recovery and it didn't work, if you could outline the exact steps you took to try a reset and any messages you get it would be helpful.
Once you select wipe data/factory reset what happens from there? You should see a confirmation screen which you then must scroll down a list to confirm before the reset will start. If you get that far, then what happens? Error messages? Nothing? It jumps back to the previous menu?

well basically I do everything you say... hold + volume button, home button and power button until it vibrates. Then I get this same screen as you have up above. Then Wipe data/Factory reset and I get this up Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire after that i go down to the yes and press home button.. then i get this Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire after that i go reboot and it reboots like normal... then i come to my apps and i still see my downloaded apps Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire like facebook, instagram, and bluefire reader..... after that i hold in the power button for a bit and i get up phone options Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire so yeah... if you need more details to figure it out please let me know.

There are a few things we can try here. First and most importantly, back up your personal files to a PC or other mass storage device. Any photos, music, ringtones, files, etc. will be lost if you don't do this (and verify they have copied, please) I would hate for you to lose important files.
It sounds like there is a corrupted section of your SD card partition which could mean that it is starting to fail. I hope not, but let's be safe and take things one step at a time.
Once you have backed up your files, remove your sim card and any external SD card, and then go back into recovery and perform these steps:
1. Choose wipe cache partition. When that completes, use the back button on your phone to return to main menu.
2. Choose format internal sd-card. Pay special attention to any error messages here. This might be exactly where the problem lies. Use the back button to go back to the main menu.
3. Choose wipe data one more time and let it complete. Use the back button to go to the main menu and select reboot system now.
This will set your phone back to the state it was in when you first got it. It will have none of your personal information or apps and all the configurations will be gone as well. You will need to download your apps again (if you had your phone set to sync with Google, once you register it to the gmail address you used the first time, your apps should restore automatically.)

If you've got physically damaged ram, then most systems will fail when trying to read or write to it. Unfortunately, like anything else that is manufactured, electronics will eventually wear out. It can happen in many different ways for mobile devices. The most common is either by a shock (dropping) or getting wet. Heat, too can be a factor in the premature failure of electronics. Or it could have had a marginal flaw at manufacture. It's hard to tell. If the phone is still under warranty, get a replacement. If not ... 
Manufacturers do their best to assure quality control, but it's never 100%. I don't care if it's Samsung, Apple, Motorola, Porsche, Mercedes, Rolex, etc. There will be less than perfect products that make it to the consumer. I know it doesn't help, but eventually everybody has this happen to them.

well.... I've never had a smartphone before and the phone is more than 1.5 years old so I guess its done it's thing job, not the most satisfying way of ending its life but yeah... as for the reasons this probably happened, it's most like the heat, due to the country I live in is basically a desert and in the summer time its around 55 degrees Celsius and that causes my hands to sweat and I drop it accidentally sometimes. Anyways, thanks a lot for the help and claification (Thumps up). Even though it wasn't the answer I really wanted to hear, however it was the answer I was expecting.
