Hello everyone! Seeing a few of your posts and some articles I've read,I see that V40's get updates to add some features or security patches and such, I've had my V40 since last June and I haven't had ONE single update I got Android 9 and that's it!.... How do I get updates and patches too? Thanks 😁

In order to help, we need to know what country you're in and your carrier. Updates get released by different carriers at different times and some countries get them before others. Some carries are worse than others. One thing to try is to manually download an update by going into "Settings - General - System Updates - Check for new system update". That's for over the air updates. Another way is going to the same setting but choose "Use software upgrade assistant" and follow the instructions. The more information you give us (like what you have already tried) the more we can help. Also in the same setting, tell us what your "Show System Update history" says or include a screenshot.

Ok cool will do sorry, so it's a factory unlocked V40 and I'm in Canada and my carrier is Rogers.. this phone was destined for southeast Asia and never came out in Canada that's why I thought I would be irrelevant because it's unlocked so I thought LG themselves took care of these unlocked phones... :/ now I tried what you suggested above already but I have never heard of the 'software upgrade assistant' and I will include this screen shot of the software info under about phone because I don't seem to have 'update history'... I just find it strange how my phone literally NEVER has any updates...

Software info
I'm not very knowledgeable on foreign and/or unlocked phones. Mine is from Verizon and here are the menus I mentioned:

The different software versions are no surprise because I think each carrier has their own versions. If you don't have the setting "System Updates" then I'm lost. That's what I use to get updates when I find out about them before they are downloaded to my phone. Hopefully someone else knows more about your unlocked, foreign phone. Sorry.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would guess that it's because your phone's serial number or IMEI didn't get registered with the carrier it was intended for. So the carrier that is responsible for its updates, doesn't know that the phone has been activated.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah exactly... So shouldn't LG be issuing updates for my phone??

IMO, they should. In the real world, they issue the operating system updates. The security updates are the responsibility of the carrier. I think that's because each carrier has their own version of what they put in top of the OS. The only thing I can think of is to use the Software version to find what carrier that it was meant for. Mine is V405UA20G, where "V" is Verizon, I think. Try to find their security updates to download and install.(if that is even possible) I don't think installing a security update from a different carrier is a good idea. Maybe the XDA forum has information that would help. They certainly have people much more knowledgeable than me.
Good luck.
