Root failed root now no hboot etc HELP.....

Hi there,

Looked on here quite a bit but not found a scenario to mach really???.

My mate tried to root his HD but buggered it up, not totally sure what method he tried using (need to get hold of him), the problem is that when i turn the phone on the only thing that happens is that the screen backlight comes on, it DOES NOT get to the HTC logo or even a hboot? menu.
Not totally sure how hes has done this but thought i might be able to debrick it.
The phone itself was on UK 3 network. Have tried the volume p/down with power button but nothing is happening. sometimes if i plug in usb the orange charge light come on. If i look in device manager on laptop one minute is says HTC usb device, then if i press power button and it vibrates it then switches to Android 1.0 (in other devices section).

Has anyone had this and know how to fix?? i am starting to thing that there is nothing to be done with it.

Any help appreciated:confused:

Don't have much advice on what to do in this situation... but have you tried a battery pull?

Remove the battery for 20 seconds or so, put it back in, press volume down, and with the volume button down press power.

if the above does not work,do you get a reply in the comd window for adb devices when device manager is showing android 1.0?

im afraid if we cannot get you to hboot or fastboot somehow, the phone is not recoverable :(

Thanks Ral, tried it but the phone vibrates for about half a second and then the screen lights up as if its starting to boot but just stays at the black screen, no htc screen or hboot etc

Not 100% sure i done this right scotty..... i opened device manager and pressed power so that it showed Android 1.0 under 'other devices'. Then opened up android sdk/platform tools and command line typing adb devices...when it runs it does not show any devices attached!!!.

Is there any way of putting a rom loader etc onto sd card that would somehow force read it on start up ????
When i have usb in the orange charge light is on and just screen backlight :(

that was close. what i meant was, boot the phone, give it several minutes, then open the cmd window and enter adb devices while its stuck on the splash screen.

unfortunately,no. there is no way(that i know of) to boot thephone from the sd,and in order to flash a new rom,we need for the phone to be in either fastboot,or hboot.

how long have you left the phne alone to try and boot? when you install a froyo ruu onto a phone that shipped with gingerbread,it does some strange things. we had anotehr user that could not get to hboot from power/vol down, but after several minutes the phone would actually boot(we are talking 10+)

you might try powering it on normally, then give it at least 20 minutes before deciding it wont boot. maybe it will surprise us :)

if that fails, try plugging it into a wall charger for 8+ hours, wich is the recomended solution for phones that have accidentally been put into a "deep sleep" mode  chances are slim that will have any affects, but its worth a shot :)

Dont get to any splash screen when i try and turn it on!!, it vibrates as if its coming on but all that happens is the screen seems to light up with the backlight, thats it !!.

Just left it for 1 1/2 hours after trying to turn on normally but nothing, still just the black screen.

Plugged into wall charger, orange light comes on, and screen lights up with backlight as before... will leave it as it is now to see if anything happens.

Shame i cant somehow use my hd to somehow boot this :(

Thanks for your help so far:)

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry, there is not much we can do. Hope something happens.

Sadly, looks like its just a paperweight now as nothing else has happened with it. left it on mains charger for 10 hours but nothing, even the charge light stayed orange, didnt charge battery by the look of it. put my hd battery in just in case but still no change. if i press the power button quickly it vibrates each time and thats it, still nothing on screen just the backlight on a black screen.
when connected to pc, DM sometimes says android 1.0 (nothing listed in comm line adb devices), other times if i give quick press of power button it say unrecognized usb device

My mate sad he tried using the AAHK so not sure what went wrong for him really.

Thanks for your help though when i first asked...he now wishes he let me do it though !!!:(

sorry we were not able to help you. it makes me sad when any device becomes a paperweight :( unfortunately there is no way that i know of,with out access to the bootloader (hboot or fastboot)

=[ sorry for the issue sir, hope things work out, new phone or what ever needs to be done =[
