Failing Google Contacts Sync

Folks, I am having trouble with google contact cync - the last successful sync was on 17/10.
Handset is an HTC Desire on O2 in the UK, running Froyo.
I can't remember when I received the OTA update to Froyo so don't know if it is a related issue.

Any tips?

I think its an OS bug.. I get it every once in awhile too. What I did was go into the settings / app manager and clear the data in the Contacts app, and then resync.

One caveat though... if you have phone contacts that aren't synced to Google, you'll lose them. Luckily, I imported (HTC sync with my EVO)and converted all my phone contacts into Google contacts when I first got the phone, so I didn't mind.
