Help Failing to connect to HTC sync

I have had my incredible S a few days now but am unable to connect to HTC sync, I've tried going into device manager and updating the driver, tried downloading the web version instead of the one that came with the phone, I disabled the anti-virus, took down the firewall etc but still no joy. Any ideas why?

The HTCsync that came with the phone (SD card) is more recent. Try uninstalling all previous versions of HTCsync before you install that one. You may need to restart your computer before HTCsync recognizes your Incredible S.
