Hi there,
I got my MT a week or so ago and though I haven't really had the time to get it set up exactly how I'd like it, generally I think it's not a bad phone at all. It's clearly not quite up there with the Droid Incredible I had on Verizon but considering how much I'm paying in the long run for this phone on this plan, I'm happy I switched.
I have two issues with the the contact management system and/or the SD card.
1. On the Droid Inc contacts could either be "Phone contacts" or could be Google contacts. I had about 50 such phone contacts, and before I turned on my Triumph I backed them up to a vcard file on the 8GB SDcard I had in my Droid. On the MT I tried to import that vcard file and it appeared to be successful - for about 2 seconds or so! I have my MT set to display contacts with phone numbers only, and after the successful import it will suddenly display all those people who were imported from the vcard file and then after two seconds they just disappear from the list. I tested it by having one person's contact details open during the import; her phone number was added to the contact details and then almost immediately disappeared leaving just the email address I have from her record in my Google contacts. Could this be a problem with the SDcard? I didn't reformat it before taking it out of my Droid Inc so maybe there's a problem with the directory structure or something if the MT's trying to write back to it? Is it maybe a prob with the Google account - perhaps the MT doesn't have an internal phone contact system so tries to add the newly imported contacts to my Google account but it can only sync one way?
2. On the Droid Inc, if I wanted to call someone I could use the letters on the dialpad to spell out their name and the phone would narrow it down by constantly checking the contact list to see if the letters corresponded with anyone's name and give you suggestions on who you were trying to call. Can the MT do this? So far, it seems that if I use the dialpad, the phone assumes I just want to call a number directly. If I want to call someone I know, I've been going to the Phone icon then the Contacts tab, and then scrolling down all the way to the name of the person I want to call. Is there a quicker/easier way than this, like how the Droid Inc works?
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!
