Lurker
I keep getting this screen that locks my tablet and says updating please don not turn off target. It looks official but it's not. It stays on this screen forever. What can I do?

Hi and welcome to our forum. :)
That's downloading mode. It's not fake, but it's not updating either. Downloading mode is used for manually updating/recovering your device using your computer and one of a few different applications.

You can simply remove/replace the battery and then turn it back on. (or in the case of a non removable battery, hold the power button for around 10 second)

You usually end up in this mode by holding a combination of buttons when you turn the device on (generally volume down + power) or by using an app that allows you to reboot into your devices other modes.

What's happening before you end up in downloading mode?

It usually happens after my kid has been playing with it, so mistery solved! Thanx so much!
