Root fakeflash cwm recovery alpha status

Made a build of CWM recovery last night, cant test the fakeflash as i moved and cant find my sdcard reader anywhere. So if you wanna test it, copy update.zip to root of sdcard and apply update from zip in recovery. It should temp boot into recovery and when you reboot the phone it should be back to normal. If you try it please let me know if it even works, and what works/doesnt. I wouldnt go crazy with it yet flashing and stuff.

I cannot be held responsible for wacky errors, bricks, phones bursting into flames.

EDIT: removed link because it didnt work.

You should probably have your bootloader unlocked. Im pretty sure it wont work if it is locked.

Never mind. You can't access the internal sd card either. I thought you could but I guess not. There's no possible way you could create a .IMG of it?

I made one at the same time. I just didnt wanna post it and have somebody flash it thinking it would work out of the box right away.

I'll pm you the link.

But can't you load the recovery image via fastboot and boot it without flashing it? That way you don't brick?

So I tried flashing recovery via fastboot. First I tried "fastboot boot cwm.img", threw me some sort of dtb not found error, then I took a deep breath and tried "fastboot flash recovery cwm.img". It successfully wrote over the recovery partition, so I turned off the phone, booted into recovery, however it stayed black, like the screen was off, but when you plugged it in it would show you all the partitions, so I could see /system /data all that stuff, however, I couldn't mess with the files, it would give me a permission error. If I rebooted into the OS it would still work but it would put me into safe mode. I also successfully restored recovery via fastboot and am back to normal.

Found a usb sdcard reader today at target for 8 bucks. turns out the stock "3e" recovery doesnt play nicely with booting a recovery in update.zip form. S0 i will have to rebuild a recovery and use a different tool so we do not get the DTB error.

Did you use the sdcard reader to format your sd card to ext2/4?
Yeah, and just for science i tried booting the l90 philz touch recovery from within fastboot and get a DTB error also so the l90 ones dont look like they will work either.

Well i fixed the DTB error, so now cwm actually boots, but am getting errors in cwm recovery.

E: bad option "defaults"
E: skipping malformed recovery.fstab line for /boot, /recovery, and /misc

So im going to have to mess around a bit more here.

Hey Dan, can you send me a copy of that fakeflash cwm?
Never mind, I found it and I just got a signature verification error.
