Well, I did it.
I've been eligible for a device upgrade from VZW for two months. I haven't used it because I was waiting to see if VZW was going to get the HTC One (I've been using HTC Android phones since November '09). I don't know why I was being so faithful to HTC; they and Verizon already burned me with the Incredible 2 - two years after the release of ICS, I'm still waiting for the upgrade.
My Dinc2 started doing random reboots 2 weeks ago, about once a day at different times. Then it was twice a day. Then several times a day. Finally, two days ago, it rebooted and shut down, repeatedly. All day until the battery ran out. It became useless. I did a battery pull a few times and got it to stay on long enough to do a full factory reset the next day. No help. After two days of messing with it (and missing calls and texts), I gave up.
I just came back from the VZW store with a (gasp) Galaxy S4. I feel almost as if I broke down and got an iPhone, as if I'm being forced to follow the crowd. I know that's not entirely true, but that's how I feel. I was going to wait it out to see what phones VZW was going to release soon, but my busted DInc2 forced the issue. After my experience with the DInc2 upgrades, I wasn't going to get a DNA (released 7 months ago). Or a Motorola, with their lousy cameras. So, I'm going with "the next big thing".
I want to thank all the cool and helpful people here on the DInc2 forums.
