Farewell indulge!

So after a couple months of frustrations with:
A severly impossible hacker-friendly phone
Horrible internet speeds
Randomly useable internet connection(i.e. all day 4g dissapears and 1x as well... also 4g and 1x is cnnected and doesnt work at all)
Rediculous freezing during all application use
And the inability to use native android wifi hotspot that works

Im switching fones saturday to the motorola cliq2.
With real 3g(i know its not 4glte but hey its fast and reliable ad thats what i care about)
Native hotsot
Rootable with no headache
WAAAAYYYY better battery life reviews
1ghz processor
The more than likely update to 2.3 than the indulge.
AND better 3g coverage in more places than metro.

The fone was free and im gonna be paying 80 a month.
For better service and support from people who are hella more capable of helping than metros peeps!

Im selling my phone to the highest bidder
And cant wait for my new moto.
Ive owned a few motorolas and i have never been unsatisfied with them at all.

Thanks to miketoolz, the ACS team, and all the dev's that made my exp. With the indulge more bareable.

i wont miss my galaxy knok off.

Keep in touch. Seriously. I'm interested in how you like the new carrier for future reference. Which carrier are you going to?

It is as sookie says, unbearable. The phone has a major flaw i.e. random switching from 1x to 4g and I actually saw the phone laughing at me! Service would be greatly improved if I could prevent the phone from switching to 1x and keep the dialer active. I preformed an experiment and set to only 4g via the **583385## method at a location where it switches back and fourth so to keep it on 4g and downloaded for several hours with no interuptions at 1 to 3 mb/s speeds. This actually saved battery because the downlowds and pages loaded faster using less radio power.

the cliq is on tmobile, but the cliq2 has SUCH an ugly keyboard plus its got motobleh

would have been MUCH better off with the g2. it was my last phone, comes aosp theres a sense based rom, aosp based rom, and cm7.. and then all the spin off roms of those 3 branches.. overclocks to 1.9ghz without a sweat. and to put it in perspective.. its the phone that cyanogen uses for personal use. htc is planning for a june release of 2.3 but even still just liek the g1 (which is rocking gingerbread right now) the g2 will be well supported for long after its EOL

but honestly the g2x just came out, the first tegra 2 phone on tmobile rocking its super hd screen and getting all sorts of love from the dev community and its teh same price as the g2.. :O

@weesy
Its just a rant and thats abut all. Other than stateing the major issues i had with this fone. I just cant stand the constant battle for battery and MOST OF ALL the annoying internet drop.i live in my fone and i cant have that.

@shabby
Dude i wanted the g2 but the only reason i decided on the cliq2 was because it was free. Web deal. But im gonna be upgradeing to either the g2 or galaxy s for tmobile anywho.
Really u dont like the keyboard? I thot it was kinda kewl....
I could have had the optimus free too but specs did not suit me.

P.s.
Its been 15 minutes since i finished typeing this on my indulge and battleing to mak the data connection work. Even over wifi

Edit.
I had to use task manager to fc phandroid and tried to post it again.

I am at a loss why there are many people having issues with this phone...

My wifi, unless my laptop or a running microwave is blocking the router, works flawlessly.

My 1x is practically constant, even in buildings unless they're made of thick brick or steel and then the signal is shallow.

The 4g is an absolute pain in the ass... but that's mainly because we can't toggle it very easily. ACS is working on that and I just have to deal with using 583385 until then.

The battery life sucks using 4g, but is better than my old blackberry when locked in cdma only. Again, our friends at ACS are working on that one...

All in all... I think the indulge is a great phone with terrible support. The few bugs that would probably take Samsung a couple months to iron out is what is majorly hurting this phone.

Anyway, good luck with the grass on the other side... I hear it's greener.

I honestly feel the same way! I loved this fone for what it is and what it can do. But the ever worsening issues getting worse is unbareable. If I can't sell it ill happily donate it to the cause.

i cant imagine that you wont be able to sell metropcs top of the line phone, hell if i had the money for it id make an offer but i just paid for my nexus s 4g

Yeah unforunately im no longer a Galaxy indulge owner anymore either, dont get me wrong I loved the phone alot, the service just wasnt meeting my expectations. May you all prosper with your Indulges.

Have had my indulge for 4 months now and having all the same issues that snookie is having. Going into the metro corp. Store today to give them one last chance. If they can't get a fix I will be dumpimg my indulge and picking up their blackberry 8530. I actually had the blackberry before picing up the indulge. It seemed to be a way more stable phone, but the down falls are it is much slower, (had a hard time playing pandora on 1x network where as indulge does play it) and also the blackberry lacks the large tounch screen.

Other then the blackberry, how good is the craft?
Any comparisons or recomendations are welcome.
I just can't put up with the issues on the indulge much longer.

In my opinion, the BB OS sucks. It really sucks hard core. But to each their own.

The Indulge is slowly becoming a better phone for me with each little tweak I make. Whe ACS releases a custom ROM I'm sure it will fix some problems we've been having.

The thing is... you are not going to really get an improvement since you will still be on the same 1xrtt network and you will still have weak penetration.

If you really can't stand the Indulge I think you should look into VM's Optimus as well. Sprint's 3g network is stable and has decent penetration.

I would have stayed with Boost had I not wanted to have a decent android phone (the Prevail is a bottom-line stripped android) and I liked the Indulge. I still do... but there are issues.

I can honestly say if Boost offers a decent android system like the Indulge I would have no problems going back to them.

Yea vance like you say to each their own.
Yea I know it will be way slower do to running 1x but not like it matters to much being that when I use my induldge I'm running 1x over 75% of the time. Lol

As for the OS its like owning a mac computer(blackberry) versus a computer running windows(android). Just my opinion from experiance with both.

The one thing I know blackberry does have is many system app controls and control of the system without the chance of messing things up or having to void warranty by rooting the phone to gain those controlls.

They are both good in their own ways. But all these issues that the indulge is having is pushing me back to down grade to something more set and known to be stable. And if I do that I might as well take in all options. Even going back to blackberry.

Same thing has been happening to me since owning the Indulge since March 1st... for the 1st two months...everything worked great. Now...4G or 1x not showing EVER on notification bar. ONLY way I can get 1x is to put into airplane mode and turn off and that brings back 1x.

I have done every thing... **583385## global mode and restarting, ##626* making sure the number,MIN, home SID are correct and restarting phone.

I have called and spent hours on the phone with technical support and went through everything they could think of that could be wrong. To NO AVAIL!!

I recently took it to an authorized Metro Dealer and the guy messed with it for about 10 mins and then said...there you go 4G is working. I asked him if it was fixed and he says " Well...it's working now ..isn't it " ?

So...I get back home and 3 hours later...same thing happens 4G is gone 1x is gone and I am about ready to smash a cinder block on this thing!!!

I personally thing this 4G antennae is getting fried due to the excessive heat produced by the phone. What else could it be? I have searched many forums and A LOT of people with the Indulge are having the same issues!!!

p.s. YES I AM IN A 4G COVERAGE AREA!!

MK try doing a factory reset if you havent already.

Been there done that bro!! I have done everything you can think of ... and have even taken it in to an " AUTHORIZED DEALER ".... the guy did something to bring back 4G ... and within 3 hours of leaving the store I didn't have 4G or 1x data at all!!

The ONLY way I can even get the 1x data to come on is turning the airplane mode on...then off. I then try to use any cut LTE on off function to turn on 4G but it won't switch over " the phone is on Global mode "

I knew that it would happen where I would take it back and they would get it working in the store and then when I left I would be in the same situation.

I am taking it back tomorrow and demanding a new phone.... I'm not gonna keep running back and forth to the dealers every other week. It's bad enough... I am paying for something and I cannot even use it how I want to.

This phone has been taken care of since the day I got it, never dropped or wet. Just very frustrated!!!

yeah its possiable you have a fried data antenna like my first indulge had.
But dont be surprised if they say to you that you have to open a trouble ticket and wait 6 days before they can do any kind of exchange. Thats what they did to me.

good luck

Dude ...I already had opened a " trouble ticket " and they said it would be 5 days and they would call me back... so after not hearing from them. I called them back and said...someone was supposed to contact me regarding my 4G or 1x not working.

The person working said... oh, well they saw that you were accessing or using the metro web browser ...therefore the trouble ticket was closed.

I said...REALLY...DON'T YOU KNOW I CAN TURN ON THE WI-FI AND ACCESS THE INTERNET VIA THE WI-FI on the phone?

This is really making me think about switching carriers, because the guy at store didn't even bother to look up my account and see how many times I have called and documented when I was having issues.

Tomorrow is D-Day... I am taking it in...and hopefully I will get someone with half a brain and a little common sense and takes the time to look up my account and see all of the issues and the trouble ticket that was filed!

Also try calling customer support. They seem to be more helpful and are becomin more knowledgable the the people in the store.

And don't just tell them you are having browser issues make sure your specific about the issue and tell them your 4G isn't working and what not.

P.S. if you call the customer support enough something will get done. But going to the store doesn't help much unless they say for you to trade the phone in. I know from experiance.

They don't see your data traffic when you are on wifi...

Well... then why did they told me I was using the internet " which was not possible at all on a phone with no data connection other than wi-fi "

Update : After returning my phone a second time....the woman at Metro exchanged my phone for a new one. Everything is working perfectly as it should.

While I was in the store....2 other customers had their Indulge phones to be fixed or replaced. Very interesting!!!

I was going to start my own thread but noticed I'm not the only smart one to see metro can't and won't fix some of our problems. So I'm here to say so long Metro POS. Lol I traded in my indulge and picked up their Blackberry 8530. Which I will be selling, ill be making a thread for that in the classifieds if anyones interested. I'm going to Virgin Mobile! Yeah babe. Loving it much much much better and for just the same price as metro. Plus side is Vigin runs on sprints towers. Better coverage over all.
