Accessories Fascinate gets extended battery - when will we?

maybe the battery will be compatible with our phone!
 
The battery in the link is 3000mah. The one in verizon is only 2200mah. A 3000mah battery is substantially thicker than a 2200mah one. The verizon one might not make the phone as thick.
 
Yeah, I don't think the Verizon version would change the phone THAT drastically, but then again I haven't seen pictures of the final product so I'm not one to pass judgement. I just hope us Vibrant owners get an extended battery option soon... I'd rather not have to charge, manage, and carry a spare battery.
 
Imagine if they could just design a battery that would make use of that huge void full of air that these aftermarket batteries leave behind. You could probably have an 8000mAh battery with all the wasted space in those designs.

There's a youtube video showing a 3200mah battery for the galaxy phones. In the video they compare it to the regular battery. Unfortunately it's way too thick so the back cover is huge.

Edit:

Actually in the video they are showing a 1600mah extended battery that fits in the regular back cover and comparing it to the 3200mah battery that was posted here. Idk how much of a difference 100mah would make.

now i'm really curious to see the difference 100mah would make. also whats the highest mah battery they could make that would fit in the normal backing?
 
Yeah. I really hope the Vibrant gets an extended battery that is worth having but also fits under the stock cover. Anyone have any guesses as to the biggest size battery that would fit under the stock back cover?
 
with the stock cover???? maybe 1550-1600... the stock battery touches the back cover on the inside as it is.... all they could do is make the battery square and make the plastic thinner to fit more cells in it. I think a back cover that a little thinker would be okay.... like flush with the bump on the back.
 
Even flush with the bump would be a pretty big change for those people used to running the Vibrant without a case. I myself have the Barely There case and I don't want to have to look into buying a new case for a battery...sadly that might have to be the situation though. I really do with battery tech was keeping up with other tech improvements.

I can understand that... and if it were me making the extended battery and back cover I would make it a whole 2 peice case system. both problems solved. yes it would be thicker but thats the trade off to having a larger battery.
 
The fascinate back is much different from the captivate. Whereas the Captivate's back cover is inset a bit, the fascinate back is flat so it looks like the back battery cover is completely different and will allow for an easier switch out.
