Fast office application?

Hi all,

I write a lot on my Android (mainly on my Xoom tablet) and like to synchronize my notes, documents, etc. over Google Docs. I've tried several office applications (QuickOffice, Documents To Go) and always have the problem that when I type, the text is only recognized very slowly. After one sentence I have to wait for the letters to slowly appear. When I type an email in the native email application, I don't have that problem. Does anyone know how to get the applications to pick up the letters at the same time as I type them, or can anyone recommend a better app? Thanks!

Sounds like a miscommunication between those apps and your Android OS. Anybody else have this experience?

Are you sure it's the application? If you have word completion and/or spell check on, that may be a factor -- try turning them off and see if that makes a difference.

Hmm, I think it might be a problem with the .docx format. If I load the documents into Google Docs they run fine with Documents To Go. QuickOffice is still way slow though, unfortunately, even if I shut off all the automatic spelling checks and stuff. Too bad, I like working locally sometimes. Plus, Google Docs tends to kill the formatting an more complicated documents, i.e. if they have footnotes, etc.

Don't think it's a problem with the processor, I'm using a Motorola Xoom which also has a dual core.
