Help Faster 3g Mod.

1. Get your MSL, There are many ways, call Sprint, Download the app MSL Reader from the market (didn't work for me), CDMA workshop, connectbot, or alogcat
1.5. In connectbot, type:
Code: [Select]
su
getprop
Find [ril.MSL] and write MSL down

1.5.2. For alogcat (from the market), follow steps 2 and 3 and click ok. It will way "code invalid". Then open alogcat, pause the log and do a filter search for "msl", you're looking for a six digit number. Mine was in black text.
2. After you have your MSL go to your phone and type ##3282#
3. Click Edit
4. Type MSL
5. Click Others
6. Click Multimedia
7. Change RTSP Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0
8. Change RTSP Proxy Port to 0
9. Change HTTP PD Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0
10. Change HTTP PD Proxy Port to 0
Note on 8 and 10: Just the number zero, nothing else.

I'm assuming step 7 needs to look like this 0.0.0.0, right?

The only part that requires root is getting your msl.
But a way to get around it is by calling sprint and asking them what it is.

when i use connectbot it says to put host name ? what do i put ?

You put the IP address of your phone I believe. At least, that's how WinSCP worked..... I'd personally do step 1.5.2 Much easier

So will flashing different ROMs change these values? Or do they stay the same no matter what? I ask because I currently have Platium EB28 ROm and I cant get back into the ##3282# menu. It refuses to go there. I type it and after typing the last # the numbers just go away and i am not reroutedd anywhere.

ok im in alogcat..u say a 6 digit num. in black?....i see two different 8 digit numbers in black.. & a 4 four digit in green but no 6 digit number...which is the msl?
the numbers look like this:
black=45b8f400 & 45bd9088..........green=2186

I made the changes but wanted to go back in there and cant. The ##3282# is not working since I did it. Using vampirefo's EXT recovery, 2.0.9 kernel and platinum Rom. Any ideas?

I made the original changes as mentioned by speeder760. It seems faster to me but I wanted to revert to the original settings again to test it more. However when I enter ##3282# nothing happens. It literally disappears from the screen.

After I entered the incorrect code once, the ##3282# feature locked up for me. It unlocked as soon as I rebooted the phone.

Thanks guys for this.
Before: 299 Kbps UP / 533 Kbps DOWN
After: 408 Kbps UP / 805 Kbps DOWN

That's with 3-4 bars of signal.
