Root Faster Charge?

could we somehow port this over? is it even worth it? would be cool though to have this fully charge in about an hour

Your phone takes longer than an hour to charge? From dead, mine is charged within 45 minutes... tops and I have no mods other than what's in BP rom.

The phone senses if it's on AC charger and charges faster, on USB off a port charges slower. There's specific charging only USB cables that make the phone think it's on AC and then charge faster. In my experiences the LG spectrum has never charged faster than 500 mAH.

Now to the kernel combos, I had the opportunity to use a GalaxyNexus on AOKP milestone 6 ROM. That charged at a supersonic 1200 mAH and that's fastest I've seen.

To get these rates and charge dis charge durations and rates get battery monitor widget from Market, it's great tool to have.

I have the 4000 mAH battery it seldom gets charged fully even in 6 hours.

Below is a battery monitor widget screen shot

45min? Wow that's amazing. Do you keep it on standby or turn it off when you charge it?

I get the same rate as Mr.B just using the OEM cable provided with the phone and the front port on my PC . My 6 ft non-OEM cable doesn't charge nearly as fast thou, so if you are having issues, I would seriously look at getting a good OEM cable.

Could someone post a picture of their OEM cable? Cause I have a ton of Verizon USB cable from lg and I got them mixed up.. or can i use any lg cable?

My LG cable has the LG logo on the microusb end and if you still have the stickers hanging off of it, it's model # DLC200 . Otherwise, just grab a good solid feeling cable. The thin cheap ones are the ones I have the most issues with. I also picked up a Belkin Kindle charging cable/AC adapter and I get good charge rates on that for when I'm traveling.

I have it in standby and it's the oem cable/plug. It sounds like you may have a bad plug or a wire is shot in the cable.

At work, on my gnex i use a kindle fire cable, but i've also used a blackberry cable. both charge it well.

The key is to use a good OEM cable. not a cheapo

OK I have that cable the dlc200, I'll discharge it all the way and post how long it takes to fully charge later...

True. My wife's Razr cable charges slower than the one I have for me Spec and neither is as fast as the old one for my D2.

Don't discharge all the way, that may brick the phone, then it won't start without a charged battery. I've read this phenomenon in these boards.

One of the broken out versions had a faster charge rate but people reported over heating issues with it. I wanna say it was 2.0 but don't quote me on that.

It takes me over 2 hours probably closer to 3 using my factory cable in either a wall outlet or USB. Maybe a new battery would help improve charging times...

I have dropped mine down and had it turn off many times on the BO ROM as well as the other ROM's we have at our disposal and haven't bricked yet.

Plus it is good for your battery to be "exercised" ever so often for health reasons. But of course, your mileage may vary.

Do you all monitor rate of charging using battery monitoring widget.

I'm interested in knowing if this device does charge faster than 499 mAH, which I've seen but not sustained. Mostly i'm at 299 mAH.

@death what mAH does your g nex charge at.

Thanks

That doesn't matter at all with Lithium-ion as there is no "memory". The only type of "memory" will be from the phone hardware itself that derps no matter what here and there. They will lose more and more life the more cycles you put them through. Level does not matter. Heat is the worst thing for these types of batteries. Completely discharging one can ruin the battery entirely, but most have a fail safe "circuit" in them that never lets you discharge one entirely. Drop that sucker all the way down until it cant power a partial boot and leave it out in the sunshine on a hot hot day to get cooked up. Tell me if it works if it didn't burst into flames. =P
