Fastest 3G Speed?

HustlinDaily

Read an interesting test saying that AT&T has proven to have the fastest 3G speeds of any carrier in the US ( http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2364263,00.asp ). Interestingly over 10k tests throughout 20 cities, they got a max of 2.75 MBPS dl and max ul of 0.36 MPBS for AT&T.

In the greater Houston area (which was not tested), I got faster than that on one test once (I am on AT&T)-

What is the fastest 3G speed test results you have ever gotten?

A big part of the story though was how inconsistent ATT speeds seem to be throughout the country.

ATT - Fastest, but not consistent
Sprint - Slow, but steady
Verizon - Average, but very consistent and more coverage.

Anyway, I get 2500 down, 830 up where I'm at. (Verizon, -87dB signal)

Yeah I read it lol. And I know first hand how inconsistent it is. The results I posted was by far and away the best I have ever gotten (surprisingly greater than their max and they tested 10k times in 20 different cities. Those results are better than the internet I get in my house, sadly. Lol which is also provided by AT&T, though DSL obviously).

How consistently do you get those results?

I'm in DFW Texas and let me just say that my buddy who has the I Phone 3GS at work and I (HTC INcredible) constantly check our speeds and he has yet to have a better speed than me.

AT&T's claim, based off of OUR experiences certainly isn't true :)

They got the fastest speeds over 10k tests in 20 cities. And I got a faster speed than any of their tests!

AT&T just isn't fast throughout (ie, I don't even get 3G in my house). Verizon gets more consistent speeds.

If you and your buddy were to go testing at some other locations, odds are at one location, he would probably get a speed higher than any of your speeds.

Oh I certainly agree, I'm sure in OTHER locations he may have a faster speed, but I care most about where I live/work and spend most of my time because that's where I use my phone 99% of the time.

Also, I would take perhaps a "slower" speed in other locations for Verizons broader network because in my opinion having service is top priority :D

1 Mb down and 800 Kb up is pretty typical where I live with Verizon. Though when I was in New York in Times Square, I got something like 2.3 Mb download and a solid 1 Mb upload. I wonder if it has something to do with them actually having much better internet then we do here in South Dakota. Or maybe I was really close to an antenna.

My "area" was upgraded 2 weeks ago, and I'm debating whether or not to keep my AT&T account (T-Mo has building penetration issues in my area)...but 7Mbs - 21Mbs for $10/mo. is hard to give up:

sprint isn't too far off.... and my upload speed trumps that.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.
