Apps Fastest Socket I/O

Hello,

Using Socket I/O, what is the fastest way to transmit information? I simply want to send a string and receive. Right now I am using ObjectOutputStream. Any suggestions on anything that would be faster?

Not using a class is generally faster than using a class.
