Help Fastest way to delete a message?

I'm new to Android OS. My S7 is running v. 6.0.1.

Presently it takes me 5 taps to delete a message from the read message window. Is there a faster way? Thanks.

Use a different message app?

I'm surprised it takes so many, though I've never used the Samsung app. Generally you can select a message by pressing and holding it, then depending on the app design it should be 2 or 3 taps at most to delete (depending on whether the delete option is visible or you need to pull up a list of options first, and assuming that it will ask for confirmation). On Textra (which I currently use) it's long press to select, then tap the bin icon twice (effectively select and confirm, but a quick double tap works).

It depends on the messaging app.

On my Sony Z3+ running 6.0.1, a long-press on a message thread selects it, and a click on the trashcan icon deletes the entire conversation.

In the conversation itself: long-press on an individual message and select "Delete..." from the pop-up.

Being new to Androad (about a week), I am only using the default app on the Samsung Galaxy s7. Are their better message apps that are faster?

There's a big element of taste in what is "better", but there are many alternatives. I've already named the one I currently use (there's also its bigger brother, Chomp, but I do find Textra a bit quicker), but there are other options. I'd personally avoid "Go SMS" though, as Go apps became very spammy a few years back.

But it's easy to download an app and test it, and delete it if you don't like it. All SMS apps are just front-ends to the message service behind them, so you can see the same messages in any of them. You can usually customise the look more than the stock apps offer too.
