Fatalities 2025

Daniel Naroditsky died on Monday at just 29. The name may not be familiar to most, but he was an American chess grandmaster who started as a child prodigy and quickly became one of the most influential American voices in chess. He excelled at both traditional chess as well as the fast-paced "blitz chess." No cause of death has been noted.

RIP, Mr. Naroditsky, and thanks for sharing your love of chess. Condolences to your fans, opponents, friends, family and loved ones.

June Lockhart, probably best known for her roles in “Lost In Space,” “Lassie” and “Meet Me in St. Louis,” has passed at 100. In all honesty I hadn't realized she was still alive.

RIP, Ms. Lockhart, and thanks for sharing your talents. Condolences to your fans, friends, family and loved ones.

Acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Tom Stoppard has passed at 88. I enjoyed his work; most of his plays made you think (albeit sometimes too much!).

RIP, Mr. Stoppard, and thanks for sharing your talents. Condolences to your fans, friends, family and loved ones.

This one may push the limits for this thread, but I think it fits; Claude was a local celebrity.

Claude, a rare albino alligator who lived at the California Science Museum in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, died December 2. No cause of death was noted, though Claude was undergoing treatment for an infection, and a necropsy will be performed to try and determine a cause.

RIP, Claude, with thanks for all you did to raise public awareness.
