Fatalities - 2026

This one slipped by us all, which seems surprising, at least to me.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson passed away on February 17; he was 84. He was at so many turning points in the fight for civil rights you can't even think of him or the topic separately.

RIP, Rev. Jackson, and thanks for your efforts for so much of your life. Condolences to your fans, friends, family and loved ones.

Actor Jennifer Runyon (I most remember her from the opening scenes of "Ghostbusters" as the student Bill Murray is hitting on under the guise of science) lost her battle with cancer last Friday at the age of 65.

RIP, Ms. Runyon, and thanks for sharing your talents. Condolences to your fans, friends, family and loved ones.

In perhaps a weird sense of irony, antiwar hippie/rocker "Country” Joe McDonald, who performed with his band Country Joe and the Fish, died yesterday at the age of 84 from complications of Parkinson's.

Though I wasn't a big fan, I first heard Country Joe back in the Woodstock days (yes, I owned the album) and most kids I knew could sing along on the chorus (And it's 1, 2, 3 what are we fightin' for, don't tell me I don't give a damn, next stop is Vietnam).

RIP, Mr. McDonald, and thanks for the music. Condolences to your fans, friends, family and loved ones.
