My respects also to John McCain. What a life, what a hero, what a person and what a President he might have been. Lovely to see the roadside tributes in Arizona.

Makes you wonder if it was a mental health problem or suicide by cop.

Our next door neighbor's sponsor Chinese youth to come and work in this country. Because of the time difference, they are often talking loudly on cell phones in the wee hours. In the summer it's a problem. When we first moved in, we were woken by flashing lights and sirens of 5 police cruisers where were called to investigate an armed man roaming the neighborhood. It was one of the Chinese neighbor kids talking to "home" with a BB gun that he just bought. It was a scene ... they had him prone on the ground, but he didn't speak much English. He wasn't hurt, but it could have been much worse.
 
I wondered why your reflexes don't kick in when you're suddenly drowning, but I've never been that drunk. There will always be a suspicion of intent, as implied, but best to call it a tragic accident.

Very sad.

It is sad. I think there were prescription drugs involved in addition to a large amount of alcohol, so that may explain the extreme loss of consciousness, leading to drowning.

I regretted my statement that I was never that drunk as it seemed to cast aspersions.
I would hope there would be more warnings this can happen to anyone, but I guess I probably seen reference to this in the past and forget.
I had a sudden vertebal problem in my forties where I kept falling back getting out of bed, so that could have added to the issue for her as you say.

My condolences to her as well as those around her. It was unexpected.

also I think it was mentioned shortly after the conclusion that the prescription drugs were therapeutic or inconsequential.

I was more of a Jefferson Airplane fan then starship. They hit their peak in the 70's really didn't care for their 80s music. Rip Marty another master of the musical arts gone.
